}}[[rs9402571]] is a SNP in the serum/glucocorticoid regulated kinase 1 [[SGK1]] gene.

Three independent European populations were analyzed, with follow up in 3798 non-diabetic and 659 diabetic (type 2) individuals, for associations between [[SGK1]] SNPs and insulin secretion. In lean non-diabetic individuals, [[rs9402571]](G) minor allele carriers had higher (better) insulin response and lower prevalence of [[type-2 diabetes]], with an odds ratio of 0.85 (CI: 0.7-1.0, p = .065, dominant model). {{PMID|18985156|OA=1
